Ok, have arrived in Sydney, spent first day in similiar dazed state to when I first arrived in KL, except this time I was on my own! It’s still a bit rainy here, but I’m told summer is just around the corner…took a walk down to Sydney Harbour bridge today after doing all the boring working visa admin stuff, and the sun came out, it’s pretty stunning allright. Not sure what next steps are, but already can see that I don’t want to spend too much time in hostels and doing fruit picking!

Question is: WWTHD?

My answer: Reckon I’ll head out to Bondi beach to stay true to the Hoff way of life.

Kuala Lumpur

It’s been a blast, but alas, it is time to go! Luckily I am going on to Sydney :)

I’m gonna have good memories of this place, everything from the gorgeous island of Redang to the madness of Chinatown, the random Oktoberfesting, the local ex pat squad, even the Gurkhas that guard Melrose place so efficiently.

Oktoberfest

Yes, I never would have imagined that my first Oktoberfest experience would have been in South East Asia, but what the heck!

There was German beer, sausages, authentic musical entertainment complete with Leiderhosen-sporting musicians, and even the chicken dance. Don’t ask. Just have a look at the pictures.

Yep, forgot to mention that, it’s really quite uncanny when you see it.

Da beach

Went to Puland Redang for a few days, which is on the east coast of Malaysia near Kuala Terengganu, to find some sunshine!

Awesome snorkelling and diving to be found there, pretty cheap too (less than 10 quid for a scuba dive!).

And the beach…well… :)

I can’t believe it, I still can’t get to sleep before 5am !!

I did stuff during the day, I go out at night, but still I had to come back, watch bad TV and then Kill Bill2 before I felt even close to the land of nod.

At least it lets me fiddle around with setting up this blog..new quick photo feature is up on the right (links to my Flickr photos).

Tonight we made some pasta with the most potent Chillis on earth, I believe my hands are still on fire even tho I doused them with a succession of milk and Vodka. So Beware – if it says “Bomb Chilli” on the packet, put it down and walk away. Slowly, or it might go off.

Gonna see about getting outta town for a few days this week, got a choice of cities (Melaka), Jungle (Taman Negara), or the beach (Langkawi or East coast)…lets see. Ciao.

quick post to say arrived In KL no problems, just dealing with major jet lag at the moment so sleeping during the day and drinking in the evening…hmm, not much has changed then.

KL is a typical big Asian city, its all kinda hazy humid weather at the moment, and the twin Petronas towers make a really cool landmark from the appartment in which I’m staying, which rocks by the way, swimming pool etc supplied. Not roughing it yet.
