Hyvää Joulua! Merry Xmas!
Buona Natale, God Jul…Merry Xmas everyone!
It doesn’t feel like xmas in this climate, but it’s a new experience for sure…walking down the street or on Bondi beach with my thongs on (that’s Aussie for flip flops), you see all the xmas decorations and
items in the stores but somehow your brain doesn’t quite accept it. However, BBQ on the beach wins out this year over Turkey and all that stuff at the xmas table.

Hallelujah
Handels Messiah, that is. Went to hear and see it at the Sydney Opera House tonight, was pretty spectacular inside, with the weird Scandinavian designs*. Can’t say that sort of religious orthodox music is my favourite, but it was good to do something cultural. And the views out into the harbour at interval time are pretty special!
*Actually, the original Danish architect actually quit the job in disgust before the house was finished, so the interior owes more to local bungling than anything else.

Another weird thing about Australia…it’s Burger King but not as you know it.
And for some reason aussies like to put a slice of beetroot into their burgers. Yuck.
