In Ljubljana

We’re in Ljublajana, Slovenia, for the Easter weekend and it’s been snowing really heavy, big, wet-tissue snowflakes all day so did a slow wine-bar-café-crawl and had lots of local mulled wine. Then the weather forecast for Rio (+31C, rain) got us quite excited!

Roma

PICT0155

Rome, the eternal city. A weekend really isn’t enough as there’s so much to see, but it gives you a great taster of the good life. Everything was really fantastic, the only gripes were that the room+bed were Lilliputian in dimension, and there was some night bird from hell that kept making ghoulish whooping sounds all night long that echoed around the inner courtyard of the pensione.

Happy Easter!

easter-002

Happy (end of) Easter! Once again I decided to stay at home for Easter break, and once again I feel it was the right decision. No crowds, unless you choose to enter into the centre, lovely April weather, bit of taking photos around Vauxhall, bit of bargain shopping, visited the Tate Britain, got plenty of sleep, catching up on the West Wing and 24, aerobee on Wandsworth Common, chilling in the early evening sun. Bliss. Hope yours was good too!

Tarantula A.D. in Prague

* with special guests Pearl Jam

Went to Prague and Vienna to catch Tarantula A.D. supporting Pearl Jam. My friend Marcos Bro Danny plays the Cello and other things in the band. Pretty awesome all round! I even got to chat to Stone Gossard briefly in the pub. Cool.

And Prague is beautiful, as is Vienna, had an excellent time going out and partying.

Finland, Finland

Lauttasaari

So I went to Helsinki for a week, it was great to see the folks and escape the appalling heat in London (multiplied by 100 in the office). I pretty much slept until 11am everyday and then either went down to the beach nearby to cool off and get some sun, or then actually did more adventurous things like visiting the old town of Porvoo.

Porvoo was lovely, very picturesque, although the experience was marred by the fact that some local yoofs had decided to burn down the old church there (link to story).

I also went out on the town with my cousin Samuli, and since I’m a lightweight compared to him I got slightly drunk and went to some funny bars and nighclubs as a result. Actually the funny part was me attempting to do funky dancing, rather than anything to do with the actual establishments. My night was perfectly capped off by me being heckled by people in the taxi queue after I demanded to know if anyone was going where I was going (near the LippuLaiva supermarket in Espoonlahti). Despondently I got into the Mercedes cab and had a comfortable, and expensive, ride home at 4am. My cousin continued the partying on to a respectable 7am.

Pics can be found here. These are all actually taken by my sister and cousin, I’ll put up mine tommorrow (Porvoo pics!).
